Description

In Taiwanese folk religion, performing the consecration and spiritual enshrinement ritual for a deity statue is a long-standing traditional practice.
The main purpose of the ritual is to bestow spirituality and divine power upon the statue.

According to tradition, a deity statue that has not undergone the spiritual enshrinement and consecration ritual is regarded as merely a wooden sculpture without divine presence.
Therefore, after the statue is completed, a small opening is carved into the back of the statue for the “spiritual enshrinement” process.

During this process, sacred enshrinement items are placed inside the opening, which is then sealed with a wooden plug and a Bagua talisman sticker.
Afterward, an auspicious date and time are selected for the consecration ceremony, where a ritual master uses ceremonial tools
such as a consecration mirror and consecration brush to perform the eye-dotting ritual and spiritually awaken the deity statue.
